Bangkok Design Week!

I am very proud to be taking part in Bangkok Design Week 2025, where I will be showing my plate art.

The exhibition has received patronage of the Polish Embassy in Thailand, and is a collaboration with Blanco bkk and Fair Chocolate.

In my exhibition Broken but beautifulI  encourage the viewers to take a closer look at everyday objects around us, in this case, plates.

Although plates are something very basic, their design, form and decoration carry a lot of information about our culture, history and tradition. The plates we have in our homes are also ‘witnesses’ to many things which happen around the table over many years. This exhibition gives voice to these everyday items and lets them tell their stories.

I work with old, broken plates collected from all over the world and put them together to create something new. The technique and philosophy I use is inspired by the ancient Japanese method of Kintsugi, where gold is used to repair broken ceramics and the breakage lines are left as a sign of our journey, hardship and experiences. However, contrary to the traditional way of working, my goal is not to fix the plates, but rather to give them a new life.

The fact that the plates used here come from all over the world, is quite symbolic. With this, the I would like to send a positive message to the world and to show us that even though at first glance we look different and don’t fit together, if we work with one another, we can unite and create something new, unique and special.

Please join me at the opening on the 8th of February 2025, 4-6pm.
