Hot off the press

So happy to be featured in the August issue of the 'Brixner' magazine. Below is the magazine article in German and a translation into English.

'Art is with me every day.'

Ms. Gacke, one of your paintings is hanging among well known artists in Galerie 90. What is your approach to art?

I am happy that my work is being shown in Galerie 90. This way I can present myself and my work to people in my new home town.

Art is with me every day. Through art I can express my feelings and describe how I see the world. Although I started with art quite late, this passion has definitely changed me as a person and has brought new meaning to my life.

I feel that especially in today's world, artists have a lot to contribute. Through art we can promote values like mutual understanding and trust. And we are able to bring happiness, beauty and colour to people's lives.

Your painting 'Lunch' was even chosen for the Summer Exhibition at the Royal Academy of Arts in London...

My painting was chosen from 12,000 entries. It was very emotional for me to see my painting in such an important place, alongside work from well-established artists like Tracey Emin, Anselm Kiefer and Georg Baselitz. I was also extremely happy to find out that my painting had been chosen to be made into prints for the museum shop.

You are currently in New York...

In July I was in Venice, and in August in San Fransisco and New York.

The confrontation with art and other artists, helps me to look at my work critically and to keep developing and learning. For me this continuous interaction and exchange between art, history and culture is food for my soul and my creativity.
